Alecos Papadatos was born in 1959 in Greece. 

In 1986 he gets professionally involved with his passion for drawing and design. Ever since, he has worked as animation supervisor, cartoon designer and director.

From 1978 to 1986, he studied Economics at the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki and obtained a postgraduate degree in marketing at the University of Sorbonne Ι, in Paris.

Simultaneously, he took animation and cartoon-design courses, and, once completing his studies, he worked as animator for French TV-commissioned animated commercials and cartoon video-clips for prestigious firms.

He has produced and directed short-length animated films (First prize at the 1989 short-length film festival of Drama, Greece; official Greek participation at the 1989 Berlin Film Festival) and has animated and directed animated cartoons (among others, the TV cartoon series "Babar", produced by Canal Plus, Paris).

In 1991 he moved to Athens and taught animation and animated film production.
Since 1993, he undertakes, in collaboration with animator and production coordinator Annie Di Donna, the production of several television series as well as a great number of TV cartoon commercials in 2D/3D for the Greek and European market. In addition, he directs and produces cartoon character animation for full-length film credit titles, color background paintings for video projection and animation for theatre plays, and cartoon illustrations.

He has designed comic books with emphasis on corporate advertisement and was one of the main cartoonists at the Greek newspaper 'To Vima' (leading newspaper in Athens, Greece).

Alecos is the artist of 'Logicomix', a graphic novel written by Apostolos Doxiadis. 'Logicomix' has been the No1 New York Times Best Seller Graphic Book on 2009.

He is actually working on a new graphic novel project, a historical fiction recounting the birth of a new political system in Ancient Greece, which later on it would be given the name DEMOCRACY.
